6. Humanity's Ability to Deny Sin.
Today, I will pause my teaching on the sacred path of Eternal Life and take some time to share with you a story about learning the Dao, specifically about humanity's ability to deny sin.
I have a friend who, despite having a very different temperament, possesses a virtuous heart. He was blessed by the Supreme Divine Father with a spiritual calling and, through this, he had the opportunity to directly learn the teachings of the Dao, guided by the Divine Authority of the Supreme Being and the Holy Immortals and Buddhas.
One day, during a spiritual lesson in the realm of spiritual connection, he raised a question to the Supreme Divine Father to gain a clearer understanding of the Divine Law.
He addressed the Supreme Divine Father as follows:
"Dear Lord, in the past, when you descended to teach the Dao to your disciples, you called on the learned ones and scolded them with these words:
My friend continued:
"Dear Lord, I am not one of the learned; I am quite ignorant. I acknowledge that I'm not among those who have excelled in their learning, and I'm far from being knowledgeable, so I understand that those scolding words were not directed at me.
However, I ask for your permission to speak on behalf of my more learned brothers. You created humanity and bestowed upon us a Spiritual Essence. Humans utilize this Spiritual Essence to bring about necessary innovations for their survival and development. Therefore, I believe that altering the ways of Heaven is possible.
For instance, Lord, you created the human body with two legs to stand and walk on the ground, breathing the air to live. Now, humans have crafted flying machines that allow them to ascend into the skies. Furthermore, they have invented submarines that can dive deep beneath the ocean and live there for months.
The mountains are made of solid rock, yet humans, through innovative methods of excavation, have crafted tunnels, allowing them to traverse the mountain and reach the other side more swiftly.
Given these examples, it seems evident that humans have employed the Spiritual Essence bestowed upon them to alter their living environment, which, in turn, affects the natural order, which means we can change Heaven’s mechanism.
But Lord, you have previously stated that altering the ways of Heaven is impossible. For example, nowadays, humans can even create artificial rain for filming. You said if we could change Heaven's mechanism, you would transform sin into virtue. I believe the ability to change life and nature was a gift you gave us."
In response to the reasoning that my friend presented to the Supreme Being (Đức Chí Tôn) in order to learn more, He kindly smiled and said:
"Human beings are capable of accomplishing even more wondrous things than those you've mentioned. Not only that, humanity will continue to advance, creating inventions that your imagination cannot even grasp today.
However, no matter how talented or ingenious you may be, there is one thing that I have determined humans cannot change: The divine memory of the Divine Spirit, also known as the mystical memory.
"In my divine law, when I created the forms of all living beings, I established within the Divine Spirit of humans this mystical memory. This means that whatever you have done, you will recall it exactly as it happened, without remembering something else.
Now, let me ask you: Suppose you took a knife and slaughtered a chicken for its meat, then after eating it, you go to sleep. When you wake up, what will you remember having done earlier?
The memory within your Divine Spirit, known as recollection, will cause you to relive the image of yourself holding the knife, cutting the chicken's throat, and eating the meat. You won't suddenly have a memory of holding the chicken, kissing it, petting it, and then having it drop dead on its own. That’s impossible.
Whatever you do, the memory in your Divine Spirit will recall it exactly as it happened, without the slightest error. That’s a simple example.
Now, suppose you reflect on your entire life. For instance, let’s say you were a doctor who healed patients. In those critical moments of danger, the lives of the patients would depend on whether your talent and dedication could save them.
If you were a compassionate healer, wholeheartedly devoted to your duty, using your talents to cure, you would save many lives. When you reflect on your life and remember what you’ve done, you will recall those virtuous deeds, and your heart will fill with joy, serenity, and righteousness.
But if you were an unscrupulous practitioner, an unethical doctor who worked only for money — where you gave your best effort to those who could pay, while neglecting the poor who couldn't afford your services — then when illness reached a critical point, you would look away because they couldn’t satisfy your greed. Naturally, the patient would die.
In the eyes of worldly law, you might have enough power to deny your guilt, claiming the patient died from severe illness. But in the memory of your Divine Spirit, when you recall the death of patients like Mr. Mít or Mr. Xoài on that specific day, the reason for their death will be clear. You will know it was because you did not give them the care they needed. You know the truth — that because they couldn’t pay you a bribe, you let them die.
When you reflect on the memories of your Divine Spirit, you will fully relive those moments. You cannot hide or deceive yourself because you will remember everything you’ve done. You may be able to lie to future generations, telling your children and grandchildren that you were a virtuous, moral person in life.
Over time, you might even deceive the general public on a large scale. But with regard to your Divine Spirit, whenever you look back on your actions in this world, the truth will reveal itself. For instance, the death of a patient due to your lack of care will reappear before your memory.
If you could erase this memory, then you might escape guilt. But in the divine law I have created for the human form, I have placed a Spiritual Essence in the soul, which is where your true life resides. I have bound this Essence to remember everything it has done. This is something you cannot change.
The mechanism of the universe, which I have placed within you, records every action and thought you’ve ever had, and this cannot be altered.
Human beings may deceive themselves, thinking that when the body dies, all memories vanish — so why fear guilt? But this aspect of memory cannot be changed. Let me give you a simple example:
A young child, with little experience of the world, might touch the flame of an oil lamp for the first time and feel the painful burn on their hand. The child’s Divine Spirit will record this sensation, associating fire with pain. So the memory stays true to the experience.
Because of this memory, the child learns to avoid touching fire, thus preserving their life. Now, if the memory were altered — let’s say the child experienced pain from touching fire but later remembered it as a soothing sensation — they would keep reaching into the fire, eventually leading to their death.
That is why I ensure that memories within one's Divine Form are honest and unalterable. The painful experience it recorded must reappear in the same way when recalled in order to protect the person’s life. If this memory could be changed, humanity wouldn’t be able to preserve its own life, nor would there be any progress.
The fairness of the Divine Plan has been decreed such that if you do good deeds, when your Divine Spirit reflects, you will feel joy. Conversely, if you commit evil, when your Divine Spirit remembers, you will endure feelings of suffering.
No one else will judge you; it is your own Divine Spirit and Soul that will judge you. Whether you ascend or fall into damnation is determined by this miraculous memory.
Human beings often deceive themselves, believing that death is the end, and thus dare to commit all kinds of wrongdoing before my eyes. You must understand that humanity has already endured much suffering, and only virtuous actions can provide healing.
You must sow the seeds of goodness in your Divine Spirit if you wish to reap good results. You cannot erase the memory of the sins you have committed.
You possess the creative power to change and enrich the conditions of human life upon this Earth. However, within your Divine Spirit, the memory of good and evil — everything you have done or thought — cannot be erased.
The phrase "Heaven’s mechanism" that I spoke of, which cannot be changed, refers to this memory. You must understand this fear and be mindful of yourselves if you wish to make progress on the spiritual path".
I am sharing this story about learning the Dao with you so that you may gain greater clarity in your spiritual life and awareness of your responsibility: "To assist Heaven in creating the world and maintaining moral order".
The creative power of the Divine Spirit allows humanity to develop modern technology to serve human life — this is righteous. Because the Supreme Being has given humans their Spiritual Essence, they are using that Essence to preserve life. This aligns with the Dao and Divine Order, however, arrogance and pride have grown so strong that the Supreme Being had to rebuke:
This warning is directed not only at the people following CaoDaism on this Earth but at all humanity, not just those who learned the Dao through the medium of Spirit Writing in the early days.
I thank you all.
