24. The Seven Phách positions are symbolic of the Great Bear constellation
The seven bonds of karmic entanglement are, in their invisible aspect, the seven emotions and six desires;
while in the visible human body they manifest as the seven Phách, located at seven distinct positions upon the physical form.
When one performs the sacred rite of severing karmic roots, one must focus their Spirit to perceive the body clearly, in order to sever precisely the seven currents of energy that yet bind the soul to the corporeal form; that is, moving from right to left, circling the coffin back toward the central position, just as in the original ritual stance.
His Holiness Hộ Pháp has taught that the seven positions of the Phách upon the human body are symbolic of the Great Bear constellation, that is, the guiding constellation pointing toward the North Star. Thus, Heaven and humankind mirror one another.
