7. Divine Eye
The symbol of worship in Caodaism is the Divine Eye. Its significance, summarized in the teachings of His Holiness, Supreme Being (Chí Tôn), is as follows:
| The Eye is the inner mind | Nhãn thị chủ tâm |
| Dual Light is the ruler | Lưỡng quang chủ tể |
| Light is the Spirit | Quang thị thần |
| The Spirit is the God | Thần thị Thiên |
| God and I are one | Thiên giã ngã giã |
Every human being possesses a True Soul that safeguards their life, commonly referred to as their Conscience.
The human heart does not have a physical form, but through one's gaze, one can perceive the inner thoughts and emotions of a person.
Though inner feelings can be disguised with gestures or insincere words, the gaze reveals the true inner self unmistakably. Thus, it is said, "The Eye is the inner mind (Nhãn thị chủ tâm)".
The twin beams of light, representing the vision of both eyes, are essential because they allow the human spirit to perceive the external world.
The act of seeing, that brilliant perception, is called "Light is the Spirit (Quang thị thần)".
The Spirit is God, God is Me (Thần là Trời, Trời là ta vậy).
Therefore, it can be concluded that the worship of the Divine Eye is akin to the worship of God.
A second layer of meaning lies in the phrase:
summarized in the teachings of His Holiness, Supreme Being (Chí Tôn), is related to the practice of mastering the Dao:
"The Spirit is the deficiency of the Transformation of the Sacred Mechanism (Cơ Mầu Nhiệm) from the day the Dao was closed.
In establishing the Third Epoch of Universal Salvation (Tam Kỳ Phổ Độ), only Myselft allows the "Spirit" to reunite with the Essence and Energy, thereby completing the Three Jewels and opening the path to transcendence.
I have come to restore the True Spirit, that you may attain the Dao.
You understand that the "Spirit" resides within the eye, and guide your brethren to comprehend it deeply. The source of Immortal and Buddha alike lies within this essential truth." (Divine Messages, 25-2-1926)
