13. Projection of the True Spirit
Whenever one seeks to understand a principle — whether concerning the metaphysical or the Law of Visible Forms — and wishes to receive the confirmation of True Truth, or from an Invisible Being, one must empty the mind and direct the intellect diligently in pursuit of the principle to be discerned.
Above all, one must not allow the mind to be agitated; otherwise, the Fire Essence will arise, stimulating the brain and causing disruption. Not only will confirmation be unattainable, but one may also suffer harm, resulting in nervous disorder, mental confusion, or even madness.
This is the essence of stabilizing the spirit; projection of the True Spirit, however, occurs when one sits, maintains a calm mind, and clarifies the spirit. Using the intellect to open the Ni-Hoàn Palace, one simultaneously regulates the yin-yang currents, channels the Fire Essence through the seven corporeal souls, and settles the mind and spirit. After a while, drowsiness may arise, signaling that the Spirit is ready to leave the body.
This method requires great diligence and must be practiced with complete impartiality. One must not act with impatience or desire, for that is perilous. First, the heart and character must be refined before one can succeed in this practice.
Within every physical body exist the Seven Karmic Bonds (“Oan Nghiệt”), which act as the judges of the worldly realm. As the Supreme Being has said, every physical form harbors demons; only the protective armor “Virtuous Robe” can restrain them.
The method to forge this protective armor is to cultivate oneself thoroughly — from speech, to deeds, to willpower — only then can it be achieved.
